Barry Day, the skipper of the High Seas, was born and raised in New Zealand. He began fishing with his dad, at the age of 5 years old and he has not stopped since. Barry moved to America 3 years ago to fish albacore Tuna. Although his home base is Pillar harbor, San Mateo in the San Francisco Bay area, all his fish was caught off Coos Bay, Oregon.
He fishes alone and sustainably, pulling 12 lines by hand one fish at a time. Barry says fishing albacore is trouble free when you are on a good school. You just fish away.
